Raspberry Sangria

Sangria is a classic Spanish beverage that can be made many different ways. This one features berries, raspberries in particular. Even though a brut style cava is being used, this style of sangria is sweet. If you want to try a different kind of sangria see my recipe Citrus Sangria. The ingredient amount will serve four. Adjust amounts accordingly to the number of guests serving.

Ingredients

1 bottle of cava, a Spanish sparkling wine chilled
1 cup of raspberry liqueur, such as, Chambord
1/2 cup of raspberries rinsed
1/2 cup of strawberries rinsed, hulled and sliced
1/2 cup of blackberries rinsed

Technique

In a large pitcher add raspberry liqueur and all of the fruit. Let sit for about an hour at room temperature. Do not open cava until ready to serve. When ready to serve add cava. Pour up and enjoy a taste of Spain! Sometimes you may need to add a few cubes of ice for a hot sunny day!
