Pomegranate Martini

What a wonderful twist on a martini that is perfect for the holiday season! I have put ingredient amounts in cups and tablespoons, because that is how I made it and I think that it will be easier for the home cook/mixologist to make. Serves 4.

Ingredients

8 oz. of Vodka (1 cup)
6 oz. of pomegranate juice from about 4 pomegranates (3/4 of a cup)
1/4 cup of fresh squeezed orange juice
Ice
Pomegranate seeds for garnish (optional)
Red sugar sprinkles for garnish (optional)

Technique

Remove seeds from pomegranates reserving some seeds for garnish if desired. (They will sink to the bottom of the glass, but have a great taste at the end of the beverage.) Liquify in a blender and strain pulp. Make only two at a time because the shaker will not handle all of the ingredients. Place half of all ingredients in a shaker, except for garnish and shake well. Place red sugar sprinkles on a small plate and take the orange and run it around the glass and dip the top of the glass in the sugar and swirl around to coat. Strain martini into glass and garnish with pomegranate seeds if using. Repeat process for remaining 2 martinis.
