Cheeseburger Pizza

Pizza has taken on a whole new attitude being made with classic ingredients to unique ones. This pizza itself is more of a classic take with a unique addition by adding typical cheeseburger condiments on the side. The pizza dough becomes the bun and it’s like you are serving the burger open faced. The kids loved it because they could pick and choose the finishing condiments to make it to their liking. This pizza is quite filling because it was almost like eating a salad and a pizza at the same time. Serve the pizza with the condiments on the side so everyone can enjoy their slice with their favorite condiments. Please allow up to 6 hours for the dough ball to thaw and double in size.

Ingredients

1 Sam’s Club pizza dough ball thawed and doubled in size or your favorite pizza dough
1/4 cup of cornmeal
Non-stick cooking spray
1 lb. of ground beef
1 medium yellow onion, diced
2 cups of shredded Adams Reserve brand New York Extra Sharp Cheddar Cheese or your favorite cheese
A sprinkle of kosher salt and pepper
1/2 head of iceburg lettuce cut using the chiffonade technique
3 Roma tomatoes sliced
1 cup of dill pickles diced
Mustard
Mayonnaise
Ketchup

Technique

Place dough ball in a large bowl coated with non-stick cooking spray, cover with plastic wrap, thaw and allow and double in size. This should take about 6 hours. Spray pizza tray with non-stick spray. Evenly spread corn flour over cookie sheet, this is to prevent sticking and to make a crispier crust. Using your hands, flatten and shape dough to desired thickness and size on the cookie sheet. In a medium sized skillet over medium high heat brown ground beef and sauté onions, strain to remove any excess grease. Evenly spread cheese over pizza dough and top with the ground beef onion mixture. Sprinkle with kosher slat and fresh cracked/ground pepper. Bake in preheated oven on the lower rack at 425 degrees for 15 minutes or until crust is golden brown and cheese is melted. While pizza is baking prepare the rest of the ingredients. Serve the condiments on the side so everyone can create their own cheeseburger pizza with condiments of their choice.
