Peju Rosé of Syrah

Peju Rosé of Syrah Vintage 2008 – Napa Valley is a wine worth “Chatting” about. It has recently been released and we were lucky enough to sample a bottle of this wonderful wine. It may smell somewhat sweet, but the flavor is light and dry with a hint of sweetness. We think it is a perfect match with dishes that contain BBQ sauce, but it pairs equally well with fish, chicken and pasta dishes. Peju offers a wide range of wines other than the Rosé of Syrah and are very good. They can be purchased in stores and online at www.peju.com.

Here is a summary on the vineyard from their home page at www. peju.com. “Peju, founded in 1982 by Tony and Herta Peju, is a family-owned boutique winery located in the Rutherford Appellation in the heart of Napa Valley. Our wines are hand-crafted using fruit organically farmed from our Rutherford Estate Vineyard and our sustainably farmed Persephone Vineyard. Travelers to the Napa Valley will enjoy our magnificent 50-foot tasting room tower, pristine gardens and unique food and wine events and classes. We have wine gifts, wine accessories and three different wine clubs, for both the occasional wine drinker and wine connoisseur.”

Michelle was fortunate enough to visit the vineyard and talk with the very approachable Peju family. The story they told was very inspiring. We listened as Herta walked around the gardens introducing herself and sharing grapes from the vines that were part of a second picking. She explained that these were not typically used for wines, but when they were starting out these were as special as the first picking. Starting a business is difficult and a lot of hard work. However, they had a dream and a vision of the wines they would produce along with the vineyard building. This dream became a reality and now we are able to sip the hard work they offer the world and if you are in their tasting room, the building as well. Thank you Peju family!
